Hi, I'm Mel. Welcome to Your Personal Hair Retreat.

My obsession with hair started early. My auntie was the family hairdresser, and from the moment I watched her cut and colour at family visits I was hooked. I switched high schools to start my apprenticeship as soon as I could, and went on to become Red Seal certified, the highest hairdressing qualification in Canada. From there I worked my way up to Service Manager at Chatters, one of Canada's largest hair salons.

When my brother moved to Australia, I followed. Adelaide first, then Sydney, and I took the chance to pivot into barbering, an interest I'd never had the time to chase before. Unexpected opportunities pushed me into running my own solo studio, and eleven years on I'm an Australian citizen, proud of what I've built and excited to keep evolving.

True Hair Collective is my private boutique space in the heart of Sydney's CBD, designed for corporate professionals who deserve real relaxation, not just a haircut squeezed between meetings. From personalised cuts and hot towel wet shaves to head and face massages and Esthemax hydro-jelly face masks, every service is tailored to you. I use only high-quality Depot and Natulique products. Just you and me, no ringing phones, no distractions, time to breathe.
